Raiders Revised

Red-X17 commissioned me to create a revised version of what's probably the most popular page from my long-running fantasy comic, Raiders of the Lost Eye. Here's a link to the original page, featuring my girl Duster along with NathanOmir's Aura Lockhaven: Raiders of the Lost Eye Ch. 6 Pg. 12. "Oh yeah, that one!" I hear you cry...

Now here's the revised page, which features MirrorKhaos' Vermilion Widow in Duster's place and my own Night Angel in Aura's. If you read the dialogue you'll realize that the circumstances surrounding the scene are quite different.

Whew! Hope you liked that. If you have trouble obtaining a full-sized version through this blog, I've also posted it at ArtUntamed.

From a technical perspective, this was relatively easier than a brand new image (or a series of them). I didn't have to change the lighting or cameras, nor did I have to choose and try out a set. I have character presets created for my own characters, including Angela; I had to create a new one for VW especially for this commission. Then I just had to open up each of the old Daz files for the original images (I never delete anything for exactly this sort of reason) and used the character presets to substitute Angie and Ava into each one. (I also had to create and use presets for their hair.)

As you can see, the last two panels are new and different, but I pretty much had the characters in position, so it just took a little adjustment of their posing and the camera angle for each one. But those last two images are why this is posted here rather than back at fussy ol' D.A. 😉

Okay, now it's time for Candy to show off some new outfits. Remember, if any of these catch your fancy, let me know here or at D.A. Ideas/suggestions (or better still, commissions! 😃) are always appreciated.

Here's one I already used, called Tears of the Gods, which I had Duster wear in an AU story where she takes over the mantle of The Mighty Thor

If you compare the two pictures, you'll see I made some modifications so the colours more closely matched Duster's.

Here's a more contemporary outfit called Classic Denim Jumpsuit. It fits Candy well, don't you think?

A lovely gown called Ravynne Outfit for Genesis 2:

It's probably most appropriate as a fantasy outfit but it could potentially be used in a contemporary setting.

I find it interesting that this is a Genesis 2 clothing prop that looks so good. I often find that Genesis 3 clothing (such as the two preceding examples above) looks better, even on a Genesis 2 figure. This is probably because by the time G3 came out, content creators had figured out better techniques for creating their clothing props.

Also, the Iray render engine that I use came out around the same time as G3, so most G3 clothing includes Iray shaders. It's extremely rare for G2 clothing to include any. Mostly they just come with shaders for the older 3Delight render engine, which is okay, but I usually replace those with custom Iray shaders for a better look.

And that's it for this week! ✋
